1) What makes your services different from a traditional moving company?
Sort, Pack, Move.... for seniors provides a multi-faceted approach to the move process: from space planning in the beginning to post-move support and advocacy. We minimize the chaos and stress associated with moving by addressing all aspects of the move process. We create and execute a seamless action plan customized to your wishes. Our job is to take the worry (and work!) out of the move process enabling the senior to simply enjoy his or her new living arrangement.
2) What are the benefits of using Sort, Pack, Move.... for seniors?
Senior moves are emotionally difficult especially if they are not voluntary. We understand the special requirements involved in moving seniors. We have significant expertise in resources and approaches that save money, reduce stress, and produce quality results.
Our services are client-centered and personalized to meet your needs and preferences. We can help with the following items along with any additional individualized needs.
- Developing an overall move or "age in place" plan
- Organizing, sorting and downsizing
- Customized floor plans
- Arranging for the profitable disposal of unwanted items through auction, estate sale, buy-out, consignment, donation, or a combination of the above
- Interviewing, scheduling and overseeing movers
- Arranging shipments and storage
- Professional packing
- Unpacking and setting up the new home
- Related services, such as cleaning, waste removal, shopping, senior escort, assisting with selection of a realtor and helping prepare the home to be sold.
3) I am interested in obtaining some help with my mom's move, but we can do most of the work to save money. Can I still use your services to do just some of the work?
Yes, we offer a menu of services from which you can choose. Our ultimate goal is to ease the stress of the move process for older adults and family members, not add to your concerns.
4) How much does it cost?
We will develop a customized moving plan to meet your needs. The fees are based on the services you select and the size of your move. Typically an hourly rate is charged plus expenses and mileage. We will work closely with you to accomplish your goals, reduce your stress and save you time and money where possible.
5) Will you be doing the actual move?
We have qualified licensed and insured movers for the job. We will be onsite moving day to supervise the entire process making sure all the items are carefully loaded. We then will meet the movers at the new location to coordinate the unloading and proper placement of the furnishings.
6) What happens to all the household items not moved with me?
We will work with you to make sure each piece has a destination. Items may be shipped to family members, sold at an estate sale or auction, or donated to your favorite charity. We will work with you to distribute your left behind treasures in accordance with your desires.
7) What if we are moving across several states?
We will oversee the move from the original location making sure everything is carefully packed up and handled properly. If we are unable to meet you at the arriving destination we will coordinate the unloading and set up with a local move management service.
